Qi Gong for Life

Qi Gong (pronounced chee goong) is a Chinese system of physical training, philosophy, and preventive and therapeutic health care. Qi (or chi) means air, breath of life or vital essence.
Gong means work, self-discipline, achievement or mastery. This art combines aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, isometrics, isotonics, meditation and relaxation.

Qi Gong is a discipline whose practice allows us to gain control over the life force that courses throughout our bodies.

The breathing exercises help induce the state of meditation and vice versa. One is aware of what is going on, but not too aware, fully relaxed but not in a trance. In a Qi Gong state, cares and troubles wash away. Replacing them are positive images, increased confidence, and enhanced spirit.

Anyone can do Qi Gong, there is no level of fitness required, so any person, young or older can learn to relax, feel stronger physically and spiritually. Qi Gong is not to be confused with Taichi but paradoxically Taichi is often used as a form of Qi Gong.

Qi Gong for Life has many health benefits for every age group and all fitness levels.

There are many reasons why we should all be practicing this beautiful and ancient art of Qi Gong regularly.

– Improved strength, balance, stamina, coordination and flexibility
– Reduced pain and stiffness
– Greater awareness, calmness and overall sense of well being
– Deeper, more restorative sleep
– Enhanced immune system
– Improved cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic and digestive function
– Lower blood pressure
– Reduced stress, anxiety and depression

Qigong can definitely improve anyone’s physical and mental health, balance, coordination and provide all the benefits of meditation in harmony with gentle physical exercise so you can become more self aware of your body and state of mind. Qigong can help to discourage asthma, bronchitis, snoring and sleep disorders as well as stress related conditions.

YOGA with Arianne

Ever since she was a child growing up in Puerto Rico, Arianne had a fascination with the natural and Divine truths that unite and surround us all. Moving to New York City and following a bachelors degree in biology, she found herself in awe of all the different cultures surrounding her and soon become more curious of the knowledge behind them.

Succumbing to anxiety due to the high pressure of living in such a fast paced environment, she was introduced to yoga by a close friend. What started out as an exercise to deal with stress quickly turned into her passion as she realized that yoga worked on a much higher level than just the physical one.

Once her studies concluded she decided to explore the foundations of yoga and it’s philosophy by completing a 250 hour YTT in Mysore, India. Her teacher, Bharath Shetty, a former pupil of the legendary BKS Iyengar, guided her studies and provided a space for personal development.

The practice has taught her the importance of uniting the mind, body and spirit in order to find balance and peace. Today, Arianne continues to explore the practice in hopes of improving her teaching skills and sharing with the world the light of yoga.
